Born in 1988, in Porto (Portugal), Nuno Marques Pinto started learning the classical guitar with Prof. Paula Marques. After completing his Bachelor Studies in Portugal, with Prof. José Pina, he moved to Switzerland in 2010 to study at the University of Basel, under the guidance of Prof. Stephan Schmidt. He had the opportunity to have lessons with renowned guitarists, such as Kazuhito Yamashita, Seth Josel, Oscar Ghiglia, Pablo Marquez, Margarita Escarpa, Paul Galbraith, Chen Zhi, Dejan Ivanovic, Tomas Camacho, Mats Scheidegger, Tilman Hoppstock and Roland Dyens.
His main focus on contemporary music lead him to play with the following groups: Ensemble Vertixe Sonora (Galicia, Spain), TAL Trio (Basel, Switzerland), LUX:NM Ensemble (Berlin, Germany), Tempus Konnex (Leipzig, Germany), Contemporary Insights (Leipzig, Germany), KAPmodern (Potsdam, Germany), Routine Investigation Ensemble (Leipzig, Germany), Staatskapelle Halle (Halle, Germany), El Perro Andaluz Ensemble (Dresden, Germany), among others.

He has won several prizes in international guitar competitions in Europe, such as Concurso Internacional Josefina Robledo (Valencia, Spain), B.O.G. Foundation Competition (Switzerland), Concurso Internacional de Guitarra do Fundão (Portugal), Prémio Jovens Músicos da RDP (Portuguese Classical Radio Prize) and Victor Pellegrini International Guitar Competition (Switzerland). He had his debut playing as soloist with the Basel Sinfonieorchester (Switzerland), Orquestra XXI (Portugal) and Orquestra de la Marina Alta (Spain).
